Activities

Costa Rica has an abundance of natural beauty and many locations with amazing sights to visit. It is Tico Tours and Adventures goal to provide the best of service in order to access all the wonders of this beautiful country.

Adventure

The wildlife and natural beauty of Costa Rica is unsurpassed. Come and enjoy white water rafting in the wild waters of the Rio Pacuare, jump from a high bridge bungee jumping or glide over the canopy of a cloud forest. If you like adrenaline there will be plenty of ways to entertain yourself in Costa Rica.

Adventure Cycling

Want to experience a wonderful adventure? Try adventure cycling in Costa Rica. Climb colossal hills (or have our transport bus climb for you) by bicycle and explore major volcanoes and then ascend, speeding down a series of climate zones, from semi-tropical to misty cloud filled passes filled with tropical plants, orchids and endless exotic avian wildlife. Costa Rica is one of the most pleasant places to tour by cycle because the country has so much to offer: flora and fauna, mostly deserted secondary roads, courteous drivers, comfortable hotels, and good restaurants. We offer supported and non supportive tourism. Give us a call or send an email and let’s plan an experience of a lifetime!

Bird Watching

With over 800 species of birds Costa Rica is a bird watchers paradise. In fact there are more bird species in Costa Rica than in all of North America. One of the most spectacular birds in Costa Rica, the Quetzal, was once revered by ancient Mayas, Aztecs, as well as early European settlers. With a mixture of iridescent greens and reds, the plumage on this magnificent bird is extraordinary even to the modern-day experienced bird watcher. Tico Tours and Adventures begins all of our bird watching tours at Parque del Este, which happens to be one of the best bird watching venues in San Jose. Tico Tours and Adventures can offer bird watching at the following destinations or major "avifaunal zones" in Costa Rica: the northern Pacific lowlands, the southern Pacific lowlands, the Caribbean lowlands, and the interior highlands.

Flora & Fauna Tours

Costa Rica is ideal for ecotourism, containing 6% of the world’s biodiversity Costa Rica is a nature lover’s paradise. No other nation can boast protected areas totaling 1,077,308 hectares, or 21% of the country’s territory. Costa Rica has 26 protected forests, 20 national parks, 9 forest reserves, 8 wildlife refuges, 7 wildlife sanctuaries and one national archaeological monument. Costa Rica is home to over 9,000 different kinds of flowering plants, over 800 species of birds, 205 species of mammals, 376 species of reptiles and amphibians and about 10 percent of the world's butterfly species. Come see for yourself and let us help you discover the beauty of Costa Rica.

Horseback Riding

Because of its Spanish heritage Costa Rica has quite a cowboy culture. You do not need to be a cowboy though to enjoy horseback riding in Costa Rica. You just need to be a little bit adventurous! Much like mountain biking, horseback riding has become an integral part of adventure tourism activities. As well as being an exciting sport on its own, horseback riding allows a closer communication with nature and access to areas where normal vehicles cannot manage. With an abundant amount (approximately one-fifth) of land under protection, Costa Rica is a natural paradise for horseback activities. Horseback excursions range from tranquil trail rides to all-day expeditions through volcanic mountain ranges and rain forests.
